Medical Centres change

In a fairly major shake-up of Winchelsea's medical facilities, the Mirnee Medical Centre (on Princes Highway) will leave Winchelsea and Hesse Rural Health Service will instead operate from its purpose-built facilities. The centre will continue to provide a pathology collection service and the services of a practice nurse.

Hesse Rural Health Service expects to relocate from its current premises in Harding Street (behind the main shopping strip in the centre of Winchelsea) to the Mirnee facilities in Willis Street in April 2010. This is part of the ongoing strategic development for HRHS to serve Winchelsea and it surrounding areas, attracting and retaining GP services for the town and rural community.

Mirnee Medical Centre opened in Winchelsea three years ago, and have taken the decision to leave Winchelsea and concentrate on their principal area in Colac.
